I’ve literally just got back and had an awesome time. I spent 2 days in Cape Town, 4 days in Kruger National Park and a day in Jo’burg.
I loved Cape Town and there’s loads to do there. I went shark cage diving, up Table Mountain and generally did lots of wandering, shopping and sipping cocktails in stylish bars.
Kruger was awesome but if you want to see the animals up close I’d recommend going to a private game reserve. Kruger is so epically massive that you actually don’t see a lot.
Jo’burg is great to learn more about the history and culture. I took a bike tour around Soweto which is a massive township with 5 million people. That was a real eye opener!
I’m guessing you’ll have more than a week in SA so you’ll have loads of time to see more stuff.
I’m going to South Africa for two weeks in February.
Not planned that much as yet, has any one been? What would you recommend?

Excellent, Thanks Monica! That’s some useful info, especially about Kruger and a private game reserve.
We’re going for a couple of weeks… I’m hoping to sample to wine, see table mountain etc
How was the shark cage diving?
